Executive Chairperson of ENS | Namibia, Hartmut Ruppel, is the proud recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. The announcement was made on 3 November at the Namibian Law Society’s inaugural awards evening.

Executive Chairperson of ENS | Namibia, Hartmut Ruppel, is the proud recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. The announcement was made on 3 November at the Namibian Law Society's inaugural awards evening.

The accolade is awarded to individuals who are considered to have made exceptional contributions to Namibian society. Hartmut's journey from a young lawyer to a prominent leader in Namibia's legal and political landscape is an inspiring narrative of dedication to the betterment of society, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to the principles of justice and equality. Hartmut played a key role in shaping the future of Namibia, actively participating in the negotiation of the Namibian Constitution. Hartmut also courageously represented detainees who opposed the apartheid regime, and on occasion, found himself detained for his resistance as well.

Some of his most notable work includes:

  • First Attorney General of Namibia and cabinet member   
  • Instrumental in the negotiation of reintegration of Walvis Bay into Namibia
  • Representation of the Namibian Association of Medical Aid Funds in a landmark case that challenged and framed important statutory aspects related to the application of competition law within the medical aid industry 

"Hartmut's tireless efforts, visionary leadership, and enduring contributions have left an indelible mark on the legal profession and have inspired generations to come. Congratulations on a well-deserved honour, and we thank him for a lifetime of making a difference." said the Law Society of Namibia

He has been at the forefront of representing clients in both the private and public sectors across various major industries. His portfolio includes clients from banking and non-banking institutions, telecommunications operators, retirement funds, and insurance companies, reflecting his wide-ranging influence in the financial and corporate sectors.
